Syrian Orpheus

Music

Presented by Adnaan Baraky

Nexus Cabaret

Orpheus, the greatest musician of ancient mythology whose "songs could charm wild beasts and coax even rocks and trees into movement", never died in Syrian mythology. He's still singing for peace and freedom for Syrians. Syrian composer and Oud player Adnaan Baraky will tell you the rest on his Oud.

17 Jan 2012: Jim Says..
I went to Adnaan's show last year, he is awesome on his oud, he is a virtuoso oudist. You feel he respects you as a listener, and you can't but respect him back. Especially when you listen to his music, he takes you beyond imagination. It's shame that he moved to Melbourne. All good Adelaide artists move away from it :(
