2016 ADELAIDE FRINGE

Welcome to LinkAdelaide's Archive!

Here you'll get to see where LinkAdelaide's come since we launched back in May 2010. All the styles, all the clunky rebuilds and holding pages, and all the dedication to Adelaide events and creating this thing from scratch.

June 2010 - The Start

LinkAdelaide was registered as a business name and website in the first half of 2010. By June, the site (created using Apple's iWeb software) debuted..

January 2011 - Podcasting

By January 2011, we were ready to make a change to the site, cover our first Fringe, and had begun releasing podcasts..

Fringe 2011 - It Begins..

For our first Fringe, LinkAdelaide set up the Fringecast, listed (originally) as a separate podcast to the original LinkAdelaide. The two have since been merged, and the site you'll see here is from the late 2012 design, but it is a good record of the shows we interviewed (links go direct to the MP3 files) for the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival.

May 2011 - Cabaret..

After the post Fringe slump, we were stuck. What next? The decision was made in May, and we dropped the black look to make something colourful to promote Adelaide's cabaret season (and Melbourne's brand new one too) in June. NB: If you click the 'Adelaide' link at the top of the page, you'll see a blue, black, grey and white design that's still one of our favourites, even if we completely under-used it.

June 2011 - A Refined Cabaret

A redesign later, a new skin, and a much more refined look greeted visitors in June looking to grab details of the Cabaret shows playing Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Melbourne Cabaret Festival and the Adelaide Cabaret Fringe.

October 2011 - Holding Page

Time to redesign.

Dec 2011 - Another Holding Page

A different holding page for the same redesign. We don't know what we were thinking either, but it's got a nice countdown timer on it that we found in the web design program.. :)

Dec 2011 - An E-Newsletter!

In December, we debuted another short-lived and under-utilized LinkAdelaide feature, the e-Newsletter. Always up for a future relaunch, this is another design we liked (in a similar vein to that mentioned in May 2011 above) but the largeness of the HTML file, and having to build it in the limitations of iWeb, saw the newsletter cease production shortly into the new year.

Fringe 2012 - Our Biggest Yet

Another new design FINALLY(!) arrives with the 2012 Fringe Festival. For the first time, we dedicate a page to every single event in the Fringe Guide, and commit and complete interviews with artists about almost 200 Fringe shows. We're also taking big leaps at this point learning how to code the site in HTML and PHP.

Events 2012 - Adelaide's Happenings..

For archival purposes, these are the events we listed in our events guide in 2012. At that time separate from Fringe Listings, the presentation of this events guide marks the beginning of the next phase of LinkAdelaide.

Crack 2012 - LinkAdelaide goes to Newcastle (kind of)

In 2012 we covered, in a small way, August's Crack Theatre Festival, which ran as part of the TINA (This Is Not Art) Festival in Newcastle, with the creation of this mini-site using the framework of LinkAdelaide to promote shows and artists within Crack.

Feast 2012 - From Preview to Review

For 2012's Feast Festival, we went from podcaster and previewer to reviewer, and had an amazing time seeing shows and writing about them for the site. Feast in 2012 ignited a desire to share our experiences seeing shows as well as promoting passionate people.

Fringe 2013 - Another New Look for LinkAdelaide!

2013's Adelaide Fringe season meant yet another new look for LinkAdelaide. Getting closer to the look of 2014's LinkAdelaide, the page sits in the framework of the essentially unchanged 2013-14 style, except for the rather large banner 'ads' we made to promote (still for free) favourite venues and related events in Adelaide.

2013-2014 and Beyond

Since 2013, the LinkAdelaide site design has remained, essentially unchanged. For archived coverage of major events like Fringe and Festival, head to our Past Events page.
